A syllabus is a course plan covering objectives, schedule, assessment methods and materials, helping students choose what to take.

It gives students the information to understand a course and choose registration.
Stating assessment criteria also improves grading transparency.
Universities state the teaching method and content and the year’s teaching plan in advance, and state the criteria for grading and graduation in advance as well (Standards for Establishment of Universities, Art. 25-2).
The national study support scheme’s institutional requirements also call for syllabi to be prepared and published.
