Credit transfer
In Japanese: 単位互換 (tan-i gokan)
Definition
Credit transfer (tan-i gokan) lets credits earned at another university count as credits at the student’s own university.
In more detail
The Standards for the Establishment of Universities allow a university to treat credits a student earned at another university, professional university or junior college as its own, up to 60 credits.
“Credit transfer” is not the wording of the article; it usually refers to agreements between universities that let students take each other’s courses.
Credits earned before admission and study at institutions other than universities are covered by separate provisions.
In Classio
Classio for universities handles course registration through graduation checks on each student’s record, using GPA and credits to check graduation requirements.
