Career education

In Japanese: キャリア教育 (kyaria kyoiku)

Definition

Career education is education that supports career development by building the abilities and attitudes each person needs to become socially and vocationally independent.

In more detail

This is MEXT’s definition of career education.

It is not only workplace visits and internships: everyday classes and school events help students think about work and how they want to live.

It is distinguished from career guidance in the narrow sense of advising on schools or jobs at graduation.

Schools often keep records of workplace visits, talks and interviews alongside career guidance.

In Classio

In Classio, the 進路希望 section of the 通知表・要録・調査書 screen records each student’s target schools and results.
