Career guidance

In Japanese: 進路指導 (shinro shido)

Definition

Career guidance (shinro shido) is the school’s organised, ongoing guidance and support so students can think about their lives and choose their path for themselves.

In more detail

The general provisions of the Course of Study ask schools to provide organised, planned career guidance through all of their educational activities.

It is often mistaken for advice on schools or jobs in the final year, but it is meant to run from admission to graduation.

Preparing admission reports, passing on job postings and recording interviews are all part of the work.

Carrying interview notes and changing aspirations across years keeps guidance consistent when the homeroom teacher changes.

In Classio

In Classio, the 進路希望 section of the 通知表・要録・調査書 screen records each student’s target schools and results.
