Overall grade
In Japanese: 評定 (hyotei)
Definition
An overall grade (hyotei) sums up learning in a subject against the Course of Study goals and expresses it as a numbered level.
In more detail
At elementary school, each subject from year 3 is graded on three levels (3, 2, 1) against its goals and entered in the cumulative record. The number of levels differs by school stage.
The overall grade summarises the criterion-based assessment; high schools grade each subject against its own goals.
It is kept in the cumulative record and is a basis for the admission report prepared when a student moves on.
In Classio
In Classio, grade entry calculates the final score from the assessment items and assigns the matching grade level automatically.
