Direct debit
In Japanese: 口座振替 (koza furikae)
Definition
Direct debit (koza furikae) collects fees or school-lunch charges automatically from a bank account registered in advance.
In more detail
The payer (a student or parent) signs up and registers an account, which is debited on a set date. If the balance is short, the debit fails and a second debit or another payment method is needed.
MEXT’s guidelines on collecting school-lunch fees also list direct debit as one way to collect them.
The school receives the debit results and matches them to the invoices they pay.
In Classio
In Classio, parents register their account on the collection agency’s site, and staff create and approve debit runs, export the file and import the results.
