Distance classes
In Japanese: 遠隔授業 (enkaku jugyo)
Definition
Distance classes are classes taken outside the classroom where they are taught, using the internet or other media.
In more detail
The Standards for the Establishment of Universities allow universities, as the education minister specifies, to have students study outside the teaching classroom using multiple media. The article does not use the word “distance class”; it is the common name for this kind of class.
The detailed requirements are set by a MEXT public notice.
There is also a limit on how many credits from distance classes count toward graduation, so which classes were distance classes needs to be recorded.
In Classio
In Classio attendance, online and hybrid lessons can share a check-in link with students who are not in the classroom.
