GIGA School Program
In Japanese: GIGAスクール構想 (giga sukuru koso)
Definition
The GIGA School Program is a national plan to raise the quality of education by providing and using school ICT, such as one device per pupil and fast, high-capacity networks.
In more detail
Led by MEXT, it built an environment in which every pupil learns with their own device.
After devices and networks, the focus has widened to classroom use and digitising school administration (school DX).
Managing devices and accounts and running information security are now everyday school work.
Alongside devices, schools need to decide how learning accounts are kept separate from school-affairs records such as grades and attendance.
In Classio
Classio for private K-12 keeps absence notices and attendance, criterion-based assessment, comments and report cards, cumulative-record and admission-report data, school lunches and allergies, clubs, school fees and the health room on the same pupil record. Forms are provided after checking the school’s own formats.
