Make-up exam and re-exam

In Japanese: 追試験・再試験 (tsuishiken, saishiken)

Definition

A make-up exam is for students who could not sit the main exam for unavoidable reasons such as illness; a re-exam is a second attempt for those who did not pass.

In more detail

Conditions for make-up exams and re-exams in school or university courses, such as how to apply and any cap on the grade, are set by each school’s rules, not by national law.

The Common Test for University Admissions also has a make-up sitting: for entry in academic year 2027 it is on 23–24 January 2027, a week after the main sitting on 16–17 January.

Some schools treat re-exams differently from the main exam, for example by capping the grade.

In Classio

Classio grades record score entry per class through review, approval, finalisation and locking, and use only finalised grades for certificates and reports.
