Notifications for bulletins, grade registration, fee deadlines and so on are delivered through a combination of notifications inside Classio and notifications to devices, LINE and email. Which channels are used depends on the type of notification and the delivery channels chosen by the sender.
Delivery order
Every notification is first recorded in the recipient's Notification center (通知センター).
For notifications that can be sent as browser notifications, a browser or app notification is sent first if the recipient has set this device to receive browser notifications or turned on notifications in the Classio app. When either is delivered, the LINE message is skipped.
Notifications that include LINE as a destination are sent by LINE.
For notifications that include LINE as a destination, if they reach neither LINE nor a browser or app notification, they are sent by email instead when an email address is registered. The same applies to people who have not linked LINE or have not consented to LINE notifications. The email body, language and link are the same as the LINE message.
Notifications that include email as a destination are also sent by email, separately from LINE. In that case no fallback email is sent, so only one email arrives. Which channels each notification uses depends on its type; for bulletins, the staff member creating it chooses LINE and email in Delivery channels (配信チャネル).
Conditions for LINE delivery
To receive notifications by LINE, the account must be linked with LINE. Students and guardians must also consent to LINE notifications. Without the link or consent, nothing is sent to LINE and the notification is sent by email instead.
Administrators, academic administrators and teachers can check their link status in LINE integration (LINE連携) on the profile screen, and if linked, try receiving a message with Send test message (テストメッセージを送る). To link, log in with LINE from the link in the invitation email. If your school uses an emailed sign-in code, staff can't sign in with LINE: sign in with your email address and password instead.
Change how you receive notifications
On the Notification center screen, you can change the following settings.
Get notifications on this device (この端末で通知を受け取る) turns on browser notifications for the device you are using. On iPhone, add Classio to the home screen and open it from there to receive them. In the Classio app, Turn on notifications (通知を受け取る) appears in the same place (Using the Classio app (iPhone and Android)).
In Notification settings (通知設定), you can turn LINE, push and email notifications off individually, and choose whether to receive each type, such as attendance, grades, bulletins and fees. If you turn email notifications off, or choose not to receive a type, no fallback email is sent either.
When Quiet hours (静音時間帯) is on, LINE and push notifications, and fallback emails, for notifications that arrive during the specified hours (Japan time) are sent when quiet hours end. They appear in the Notification center straight away. Urgent notifications (such as consecutive absences), bulletins in the Safety and emergency (安全・緊急) category and school bus (送迎バス) alerts are sent immediately, even during quiet hours. Fee due-date and overdue notices wait until quiet hours end. Notifications for which the sender chose email as a delivery channel still arrive by email straight away.
Where to check when notifications do not arrive (for administrators)
In the Delivery logs (配信ログ) tab of the Notification center, you can check delivery records by channel and status, and resend failed ones with Resend (再送する). Notifications that were not sent are also recorded with the reason (LINE not linked, no consent to LINE notifications and so on). Notifications waiting for quiet hours to end are shown as queued, with the time they will be sent.
In LINE delivery operations (LINE配信運用), you can check LINE link, consent and unsubscribe status, the deliverable rate, and unresolved delivery failures, and record assignment, resending and escalation.
The number of LINE messages can be checked in LINE messages per month (月別のLINE配信数) in LINE delivery operations. Messages where LINE was skipped because a browser or app notification was delivered instead are shown as Replaced by push (プッシュで代替).
